DonXml's Music Reviews

Rockin Christmas Time

I’m not as talented (or as bold) as Rory, and record myself and then release it on the web, so I’ll just have to settle for promoting my friends.  And if you should also  check out a pretty cool new tune by my friends in 40 Ft. Ringo called Rockin’ Christmas Time.  I haven’t got around to publishing my review of 40 Ft. Ringo’s first CD, Funny Thing (it will be the next review I’ll release), but for those of you that don’t know them, they a local NJ band that has been around for quite some time.  Made up of half of the band Trixter (Steve Brown and PJ Farley), they are a more mature version of Trixter, but still keeping with their pop roots.  Steve has a knack for belting out catchy riffs, and the music falls somewhere between pop punk and 80’s hair metal.  My wife and I met Steve a bunch of years ago at a show in NYC, and we’ve keep in touch via email, and for some reason I keep bumping into Steve at various other rock shows (honest Steve, I’m not stalking you).

Not a bad christmas song, I'll swop it any day for that The Darkness xmas song (aaarrrggh).
I like Wired, Unbroken and Tough clips. I think Tough was my favourite due to the more punky feel.

About donxml

I’m an independent consultant, specializing in .Net solutions architecture, based out of New Jersey who also doubles as an evangelist for XML, Domain Driven Design, enterprise architecture and .Net. I do not work for Microsoft, the W3C or any other big company that you may know of (at least not yet). I’ve been an indie for over ten years, and although I’ve been tempted a couple times to take a job with companies like Microsoft, I’ve haven’t found something better than my current situation. I work mostly with the large pharmaceuticals that are based here in New Jersey, and usually find myself on long term contracts. Definitely not the prototypical indie consultant, but it lets me dedicate time to my non-income generating activities like the developer community stuff, plus financing open source projects like XPathmania and MVP-XML. If you would like to talk to me about doing some contract work, just contact me via the contact page. My rates vary widely, depending on lots of different variables, but mostly distance from Jersey, and type of work. Plus, I’ve been known to donate some of my code for various projects.
